Well at least this week's earlier story (http://www.startribune.com/stories/462/3852796.html) has spurned some debate: http://www.startribune.com/stories/462/3857556.html

Boot camp to cut former judge's prison sentence

So let me get this straight. This judge has been approved for a highly physical rehabilitation program after claiming in his case defense that he suffered two strokes, yet he passed the tests to get into the program with "flying colors"?

And on top of that he's admitted to a program where he won't even benefit from some of the training. It seems like all this guy will be doing is working out for months and then he's rewarded with early release!

I have been horribly lax in posting. This can be blamed on several factors including illness and a midterm but in the end the blame lays squarely at my feet.

A longer post is in the works. For now I leave you with this article from today's Minnesota Daily on blogging. Unfortunately I'm not in it ;)

Another week (and weekend) have gone by and I'm here again at a Monday. A quiet Monday at that too.

The weekend was kind of a blur. Friday night was spent eating too much pasta and cleaning out TiVo's constantly full belly. Saturday morning Hubby and I had a late breakfast at The Keys, a wonderful family restaurant. The Farmer's Omelet was the stuff dreams are made of and I'm pretty sure Hubby enjoyed his Belgian waffle too. After that it was off to run a bunch of errands. One of our last stops was at Guitar Center so that Hubby could pick up a couple of parts for his keyboard-to-computer project. I'm always amazed when I go into stores like that with him. I see it as a complete reversal from when I drag him into craft stores with me: I have no idea what any of that stuff is for and couldn't begin to think about what to do with any of it.

Yesterday was spent in true Bongalow fashion: Nascar and laundry. We are so WT. The day wrapped up with the season premieres of Six Feet Under and Queer as Folk. Both excellent episodes. I find it so refreshing that we didn't have to wait over a year for the SFU premiere, I can't say that last season's Sopranos episodes lived up to all the hype that an 18-month wait produced.

To update from last week's dental worries: all is relatively well. I had to go back last Thursday to have a massive cavity filled. It bordered on the edge of root canal and I'm not sure I'm out of the woods yet but hopefully soon I will be. My dentist has temporarily stopped using nitrous oxide so I got to take the valium route to relaxation for my appointment which was pretty nice, I gotta tell ya. I still have a couple more appointments to go but at least there's the added comfort of having a great dentist and reduced anxiety about the whole thing.

I'm starting to lose track of all of the things I wanted to blog about so I guess that means it's time to post.

To wrap things up from the weekend, I spent almost a minute watching that Tyson "fight" and thanking my lucky stars that I didn't have to waste pay-per-view money on that match. My favorite part? When Etienne paused to remove his mouthguard before hitting the mat after his supposed knockout.

My husband's boss is mentioned in this article on spammers, pretty interesting article.

We're gearing up for the inauguration of a new president here at the U so the news articles have been circulating all over the place including this one that I found fascinating in my whole "what the heck do they do that for?" mindset. Relating to that it leaves me a little more than worried reading that my boss is losing sleep over the budget problems. I'm currently living in the world of "I'm not going to worry about it unless something happens" (Sweet. My Aunt took that picture in the article.)

I broke down and made an appointment to see my dentist. This appointment was originally scheduled for March 17th but they called yesterday to see if I wanted to take a spot for this afternoon that someone had cancelled. I agreed, only to be flooded with trepidation upon hanging up the phone. I'm getting more relaxed about going to the dentist. I fully believe there's something to be said of seeing a mean dentist while you were a kid. That stuff sticks with ya! Not that my childhood dentist could be classified as "mean", maybe just not the most compassionate dentist I've ever met in my life. If only I could have the nitrous during the regular dental appointments, life would be that much sweeter. I remember hearing from my Dad years ago that he watches TV while at his dentist's office. I need to get in on that action

I was reading a posting someone made on a blog of a friend about Minnesota drivers and they're lack of skillz. At first I got ticked off about it but after yesterday afternoon's adventure I can now fully agree. I was on my way to a haircut appointment and had a lot of extra time to waste so I didn't act in my normal speed-demon ways on the highway. However, everyone else did. I think I was cut off no less than three times. Quite honestly it reminded me of driving through Los Angeles a couple of years ago. *shudder*

It's been both a busy and a calm day. I've spent the majority of it in my office at home, trying to get it into some sense of order. It's slow going but at least I now have The Desk where I want it (if you've ever seen The Desk you know that it's not easy to move) and all that's left is to go through a giant pile of papers and some fine tuning.

I'm off to watch the Tyson fight for the pure sensationalism of it all.

I leave you with this, from the department of deep thoughts. Enjoy.

So here it is, the first official entry. I've had weblogs before but not ones that I have kept up with consistantly so that's what the goal is with this one. You'll find my daily musings (hot damn, always wanted to use "musings" in a sentence), recent article I've found interesting (usually with my comments trailing along afterward) and just stuff that's been going on in my life.

Enjoy!

A big thanks to The V for getting this up and running for me, and to Hubby for assisting with the background mechanics as well.
